    Derrick J. Beech, MD, FACS Surgical Oncologist President and CEO Cancer Treatment Specialist, PC After more than twenty years in academic medicine and serving as Professor of Surgery and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Beech sought to expand high-quality cancer care, particularly for disenfranchised communities. Thus, he created a professional corporation, Cancer Treatment Specialist, to combat global inequalities in cancer prevention, treatment, and survival. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Beech earned his bachelor's degree from Duke University with a major in Mathematics. He continued his studies at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia, where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. Following medical school training, he completed his residency training in Surgery at Temple University Hospital and Clinics in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During his residency training, Dr. Beech developed a strong interest in cancer surgery and the compassionate care required in cancer patients' care. As such, he went on to complete his fellowship training in Surgical Oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Beech has received numerous honors and awards, including membership in the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Beech has been actively involved in medical education and clinical practice as a faculty surgical oncologist at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, and the University of Tennessee at Memphis, where he served as Chief of Surgical Oncology and Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs. He previously served as Professor and Chairman of Surgery at Meharry Medical College and Chief of Surgery at Nashville General Hospital at Meharry. He has served as Professor of Surgery and Senior Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs at Morehouse School of Medicine. He is a past member of the executive leadership team of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, serving as the national Chair of Surgery. Recently, Dr. Beech has served as Chief of Surgery at Phoenix Indian Medical Center, overseeing surgical services to Native Americans in Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. He is a member of multiple national scientific organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, American Association of Cancer Education, and Cancer Research. He is a respected author in surgery with numerous published manuscripts, book chapters, and abstracts. He has delivered over 100 local and national presentations and served as a visiting professor at many leading institutions. Dr. Beech's research has focused on cancer prevention and control, novel gene therapy for cancer, and large-scale clinical trials, emphasizing breast cancer, sarcoma, and colorectal cancer. He has coordinated prostate cancer prevention programs in western and middle Tennessee. His research has expanded to include cancer health disparities and health equity research globally. Dr. Beech's goal is to give cancer patients 'what they need, when they need it, in the amounts needed' - global health equity.
