Atlanta is like no other city in the world. We are the epicenter of Black excellence in music, entertainment, education, and politics. This is especially true in Medicine. There are thousands of Black doctors practicing in metro Atlanta, more than any other city in the United States. Yet thousands of Black patients still don’t have access to good health care.
Despite having so many Black doctors in Atlanta, it can still be hard to find one when you are looking for one. That is why we created this directory…to help you find your Black doctor.
When it comes to health care, Black patients have historically received lower quality care, and have experienced worse outcomes. This is due to a variety of factors including racial bias, disparities in resources, limited insurance coverage, lack of access to care, and distrust for the medical profession.
Research shows that Black patients thrive when their doctors look like them and have similar life experiences. Our goal with this directory is to provide our community with access to Black medical professionals who are committed to providing quality care for all patients, regardless of race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.
This directory provides you with a comprehensive listing of Black doctors throughout metro Atlanta. The listings will include medical doctors, podiatrists, optometrists, and mental health professionals. In addition, we also want this directory to serve as a networking platform where individuals, businesses, and organizations can engage with our doctors. The next version of the directory will include dentists, naturopathic doctors, and chiropractors.
